How To Easily Clean Your Trash Can?

Is cleaning your trash can a part of your daily routine? Probably not. Well, I am here to tell you that it should become a staple. I know that you are regularly changing the trash bag, however, in some cases, this isn’t enough because the trash might leak and land on the trash can. This will not only make the trash can extremely filthy but it will start to smell bad.

If every time you open your trash can you get a whiff of a nasty odour then it’s time to feature cleaning it in your daily to-do list! I clean mine every time I throw the trash and replace the trash bag – just to be sure that it’s a clean and germs-free area!

How To Easily Clean Your Trash Can?

Thankfully, we don’t need anything special for the cleaning – just warm water, liquid dish soap, hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol, and a scrub brush.

I start by mixing soap and warm water in a bowl. Then I dip a scrub brush in the soapy water and start scrubbing the trash can. I cover both the inside and outside!

Then I dampen a cloth in water and wipe the interior and exterior of the trash can so I remove the soapy water.

And last but not least, I spray my trash can either with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol so I am certain the surface is disinfected and no germs are hiding. You can use whatever you have at home – both products work great in sanizing. Then, before I place a new trash bag, I wait for the can to dry completely.
